PSS Excellence in Pharmacology Award (MSc)

The Pharmacological Society (Singapore) [PSS] invites MSc by coursework students at universities in Singapore who are completing research projects substantially related to pharmacology as part of their graduation requirements to apply for the PSS Excellence in Pharmacology Award (MSc).


Conditions of Award:


1. Nature of the Award

Subject to Rule 6 below, one Award shall be made annually and shall comprise a cash prize of $200 and a certificate.


2. Eligibility

The Award shall be open to a student who is a member of the Pharmacological Society Singapore (PSS) at the time of application for, and receipt of, the award, and who has completed a research project contributing to the requirements for a Master of Science by coursework programme that is substantially related to pharmacology at a university in Singapore during the relevant Academic Year.


3. Application Procedure

Applicants must submit their (i) curriculum vitae (CV), (ii) research project write-up, (iii) letter(s) of support from their supervisor(s), and (iv) any published paper(s) and/or manuscript(s) under review arising directly from the MSc research project. Documents should be submitted in MS Word or Adobe PDF format. The combined size of all files must not exceed 15 MB. Submissions should be made by email with the subject header “MSc Award” to admin@pharmacologicalsociety.sg. The submission deadline is 5:00 PM on 15 April 2026.


4. Basis of Selection

The Award shall be made on the basis of excellence in pharmacology, taking into account overall academic performance, quality of dissertation or project work, publications, scholarly achievements, and professional engagement in pharmacology.


5. Selection

The recipient shall be selected by a Selection Committee comprising not fewer than three members appointed by PSS. Members with conflicts of interest shall recuse themselves from deliberations. The Selection Committee may call shortlisted candidates to present in the event that there is more than one outstanding candidate. The decision of the Committee shall be final.


6. Standard of Merit

No Award shall be made if there is no candidate of sufficient merit.
